acrylic on canvas, 18” x 24”, 2026, Chilliwack, BC
This is a highly textured, Impressionistic version of David Weirmeir’s combat boots from when he was in the Canadian Armed Forces. It was completed from a drawing that he did back in 2014, of which he sold to a nurse later that year. The painting is finished with a glossy varnish. There are reasons Dave uses a glossy finish on his works. It brings out the full colours of a painting; it makes it so the work appears still fresh and wet; and the painting itself will never fade in the sunlight. Dave has done many paintings and drawings of his boots over the years.
